Mental Health Awareness Month 2023 – Housing Stability

Safe and stable housing is a basic need, and it can be difficult or impossible to care for your mental health if that need is not met.

“Look Around, Look Within” is the 2023 Mental Health America (MHA) theme for Mental Health Awareness Month. MHA shares that from your neighborhood to genetics, many factors come into play when it comes to mental health conditions. Everyone is encouraged to consider how the world around them effects their mental health.

An individual’s surroundings can impact if, how, and when their needs are met, which in turn affects your mental health. Having safe, stable, and healthy home conditions set the foundation for achieving and maintaining good mental health. Stable housing allows individuals to develop routines and connections to their local community, which are beneficial for mental health.

RISE promotes positive mental health by providing individuals with safe and stable housing so they have the opportunity to improve their quality of life. We offer several different mental health housing programs which include varying levels of support services based on the resident’s recovery goals.

Our impact is life changing. Our mission and the work we do at RISE enables individuals to achieve the mental wellness they need to live safely and healthy in our community.

Please support RISE and the services we provide by giving a gift today or by attending one of our upcoming fundraising events during Mental Health Awareness Month!

Community Residences

The RISE Community Residences (CRs) provide residential support services to adults with mental health diagnoses and other life challenges. The CRs are a great place for individuals to normalize their experience. It provides a social environment for individuals who have similar or the same diagnoses. It helps them see that having a mental health diagnosis does not prevent them from living a fulfilling life of their own choosing.

RISE CRs foster a safe, supportive, home-like environment. This allows individuals to focus on their individual mental health needs. Our trauma-informed, person centered approach honors the unique needs and challenges of each person.

 Treatment Apartments

The RISE  Treatment Apartments Program is a single site apartment program with staff on site seven days a week. The Treatment Apartments are a step between the Community Residences and the Transitional and Supportive Apartment Programs. Residents live independently in their own apartments and meet with staff for assistance with developing goals to help them move into more independent living situations.

Transitional Apartment Program

The RISE Transitional Apartment Program is a scattered site apartment program. Residents are provided furnished single or double unit apartments located throughout Saratoga Springs and Ballston Spa. Residents meet with staff for assistance with developing goals to help them move into either Supportive Housing or back into the community.

Supportive Housing

The RISE Supportive Housing Programs provide permanent housing and support services to adults with mental health diagnoses and other life challenges. RISE Staff provides coaching, support, and guidance on an ongoing basis to enhance each resident’s ability to live successfully in their own homes.
