As we honor Mental Health Awareness Month, we are proud to share the story of one of our residents, Ryan — a shining example of what’s possible when people are given both independence and support in their recovery journey.
Ryan has lived at the Dominic Hollow Treatment Apartments since 2023. These 12 single-occupancy apartment, are designed to do more than just house people — they create a foundation for healing and growth.
What makes Dominic Hollow unique is the presence of on-site staff. For residents like Ryan, this means they can maintain their independence while knowing someone is always nearby to offer help, guidance, or just a listening ear.
“RISE staff have helped me become successful in living on my own,” Ryan shared. “It’s not just about having my own space — it’s knowing I can ask for help if I need it.”
Through supported housing, Ryan has been able to strengthen and maintain coping mechanisms that support his mental health — including exercise, music, and reading. These daily routines bring balance, calm, and joy, and are key parts of his continued recovery.
During Mental Health Awareness Month, Ryan’s journey reminds us that community-based care works. Supportive housing programs like Dominic Hollow are critical in promoting mental wellness and preventing homelessness for individuals facing mental health or substance use challenges.
Thanks to Ryan and many others who bravely share their stories, we’re continuing to build a future where housing, health, and hope go hand in hand.
