Funding Renewed to Offer More Supported and Affordable Housing in Saratoga County

RISE Healthy Housing and Support Services is pleased to announce that their Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative (ESSHI) grant has been renewed.

The New York State ESSHI program provides service and operating funding for congregate supportive housing across the State. RISE will use the funds to operate 30 supported housing units in a 60-unit apartment building named Dominic Hollow Apartments. The remaining 30 units are designated for affordable housing. The apartments will be conveniently located just outside the village of Ballston Spa.

The supportive housing units advance the mission of RISE to assist people living with mental health and substance use diagnoses. The Supported Housing program at RISE provides long-term housing and support services to people living with mental health diagnoses. The program goal is to assist each person to live independently. Program staff provide counseling, financial assistance, and life skill instruction. The agency is excited to soon be able to offer more supported housing opportunities within the county.

We believe in the Housing First approach. RISE Affordable Housing provides permanent housing for people experiencing homelessness. Housing First does not require precondition or barriers to entry, such as sobriety, treatment, or service participation requirements. Affordable housing is vital to building a strong community.  When people have a safe place to live, they can focus on making other positive changes in their lives.

RISE is currently securing capital funding and anticipates putting shovels in the ground by summer.
