Shelter Support Staff

RISE Housing and Support Services has an opportunity for a confident individual with experience working with sensitive populations to join our team and support the operations of our low barrier shelter. A successful candidate will be able assist in the maintenance of a safe and supportive environment during the day hours of the shelter program.

RISE offers an Shelter Support Staff:

  • A rate of $18.50 per hour
  • $1500 bonus after 6 months of employment
  • A generous time off package: In your 1st year, earn up to 2 weeks of vacation time, 3 weeks of combined sick and personal time, enjoy up to 11 holidays, and a day off for your birthday

Overview of Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining a safe and supportive environment
  • Responding to escalated situations and involving community supports as needed
  • Supporting shelter volunteers
  • Modeling positive and appropriate behaviors

To qualify you must have:

  • A high school diploma and at least one year of experience providing support to individuals experiencing homelessness and/or mental health or substance use diagnoses
  • Weekend and Overnight availability
  • Other combinations of experience and education will be considered
  • An ability to operate independently, think on your feet, and follow your training
  • A willingness to meet people where they are at in the community
  • Strong interpersonal boundaries
